What to Write About Yourself in a Marriage Biodata (Examples)
18 June 2026 · 5 min read
Beyond facts and figures, many biodatas include a short ‘About Me’, hobbies, and what you're looking for in a partner. Written well, these lines make you memorable; written badly, they sound generic. Here's how to do it, with examples.
Keep ‘About Me’ short and genuine
Two or three honest sentences are enough. Mention your values, your work in plain words, and one or two things that make you, you. Avoid clichés like ‘fun-loving and caring’ that everyone writes.
- Example: ‘I'm a software engineer in Pune who loves weekend treks and cooking for family. I value honesty and a calm home.’
- Example: ‘A school teacher from Jaipur, close to my family, happiest with a good book or in the kitchen.’
List hobbies that are real
Pick a few genuine interests rather than a long list. Specific is better than generic — ‘classical music and badminton’ beats ‘music and sports’.
Write expectations respectfully
If you include partner expectations, keep them brief and reasonable — values, family orientation, perhaps education or city. Avoid long demanding lists, which can put families off.
- Example: ‘Looking for a kind, family-oriented partner who values mutual respect.’
Match the tone to your family
Some families prefer a formal tone, others a warm one. Read it aloud — if it sounds like you, it's right. Our editor lets you add an About Me or hobbies field and hide it anytime.

What should I write about myself in a marriage biodata?
Two or three honest sentences about your values, work and a couple of genuine interests. Keep it specific and avoid clichés.
Should I list my expectations from a partner?
Optionally, and briefly — focus on values and family orientation rather than a long list of demands.
Is an ‘About Me’ section necessary?
No, it's optional. Many biodatas work well with just the standard fields; add an About Me only if it helps you stand out.
